Rain Again at Wayne County

Orrville OH - June 13, 2009 - Although skies were heavy and gray the disappointment was clear as race fans left Wayne County Speedway after a brief rain shower washed away the evening activities, “Summer Sizzler” will once again need to be rescheduled for a later date. Fans may redeem their arm bands during any upcoming regular show and the strong field of Circle Track Mini Trucks that were ready for action will need to ink in a new date as soon as schedules permit.

There will be no shortage of impending action as regular racing returns on Saturday June 20 with our “Chase to the Championship” series featuring Late Models, Sprints, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks and Cruisers. Mid point in the season, Ryan Markham and Wayne Maffett Jr. remain in a dead heat for the Super Late Model title, tied at 406 points each and neither competitor is likely to back down until a champion is crowned. An amazing battle between the seasoned pro and the rising star is taking shape in the Sprint car ranks. Troy Vaccaro is an accomplished racer on both dirt and asphalt, from Sprints to Super Modifieds; Vaccaro trails fifteen year old Kory Crabtree by only eight chase points. That is a lot of excitement building from just two of our divisions and proof how great the competition really is at Wayne County Speedway, don’t miss a single night!

The week begins early and ends late for fans of full blown Sprint Car racing as the 27th Annual Ohio Sprint Speed Week officially begins on Friday June 19 at nearby Attica Raceway Park. Some of the nation’s top drivers will compete for big money spread over eight nights of racing culminating with a $10,000 crowning finale at Fremont Speedway on June 26th. Originally the second stop on the ever expanding tour, Wayne County Speedway in Orrville Ohio is expecting a capacity crowd during their long standing Speed Week stop on Monday, June 22nd, now the fourth date of the series with $5,000 going to the winner of the 40 lap all out main event. In addition to Sprints, Wayne County Speedway will include Super Late Models to the program of high speed entertainment.

We extend our best wishes to track photographers Gary and Linda McKisson who both have made great contributions to the racing community over the years and it is our hope Linda will be able to attend the All Star show at Wayne County Speedway, an event she dearly loves. Also a big thank you to our sponsors, Federated Auto Parts, Beaver Petroleum, Fisher Performance, Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic, and Sunoco Race Fuels. Wayne County Speedway is located south of Orrville Ohio just off Historic Lincoln Highway. Please visit our website at www.waynecountyspeedway.com for more information.
