WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY DRIVERS COLLECT TROPHIES & AWARDS AT BANQUET

Around 250 people attended the 2021 Wayne County Speedway banquet this past Saturday at the Pines Golf Course Banquet room to honor the top 10 in each class of the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts “Race to the Champioship points” plus other awards. Following an excellent meal served by the staff at the golf course restaurent, Dean Jacobs, JR Gentry, John Wilson and Doug Hensel, the 2020 champions, were honored since there was not a banquet last year. Ronnie Myers, the owner of Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Service, was then awarded the Chuck Griffith Sportsman Award for all his help this past season.
Dean Jacobs collected his third straight, fourth overall, Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprint title as he finished in the top 10, thirteen times, highlighted with two wins and eight second place finishes with five heat wins totaling 721 points. For the McClure Racing team, it was their fourth straight championship. Broc Martin finished second as he compiled 691 points with 11 top tens with six feature wins and 5 heat wins. Chris Myers ended up third in the points for the second year in a row with 637 points as he posted eight top 10’s with one win and 6 heat wins. Nick Patterson racked up 574 points with ten top 10’s with a best finish of third in feature action. One point behind was first year driver Zach Ames, who also had ten top 10’s as his best finishes were fourth place twice for his 573 markers. Making his fourth straight top 10 in points, Henry Malcuit finished 6th with 510 points as he had one win in his 7 top 10’s. Malcuit has also won the last two Sprint Blowout wins that are not points races. Another first year driver scored a 7th place finish in the points as Danial Burkhart gathered 484 points with his best finish of 7th twice. Jason Dolick ended up eighth in the points with 429 markers as he had seven top 10’s with a pair of fourth place finishes his best. After a late start this season and a year off from racing, Three time track champion Andrew Palker took ninth in points with 427 tallies with 2 third place feature runs topping his 5 top tens. Taking the 10th spot was Joe Adorjan with 368 points with apair of eighth place finishes highlighting the first year drivers 4 top 10’s.
The 2021 Malcuit Tavern Super Late Model crown belongs to Mitch Caskey as he posted 5 wins, the last two of the season to secure the championship, and three second place runs in 13 top tens for 715 points and his first title. Ryan Markham ended up second in points with 687 as the 5 time champion racked up 12 top tens with 2 wins and three seconds as this was his 10th straight top ten points finish. Third place goes to Larry Bellman who reeled in 641 points with his 13 top tens and a second place best feature finish. J R Gentry ended in the fourth spot in points with 638 markers as he had 4 wins in eight top 10’s and five heat wins which was the most of any driver. Jerry Aber rounds out the top five 543 points as he scored nine top tens with a third place feature finish his best. Putting up 513 points, Wes Morrison raced to 10 top ten’s and a season best second feature run to take sixth. Nick Cox matched his car number by finishing 7th with five top 10’s and three 6th place’s in the features being his best giving him 383 points. Four time track champion Doug Drown, scored 356 points thanks to 1 win and six top tens for 8th. Five time track champ Brad Malcuit ended up ninth with 335 points with 6 top tens and two 6th place feature finishes. Jason Henderson fills out the top ten with 327 pointsas he grabbed 3 top tens with a fifth place best finish.
Finishing with 12 wins, two seconds and a third place plus 12 heat wins in the 15 points races, Kyle Moore easily claimed the CORBON Ammunition Modified championship with 870 points for hid first crown. Casey Butler took second with 476 points as he gathered in 7 top tens with two fifth place feature finishes his best. Mark Gardiner raced to 467 points for third as he racked up 10 top tens and a second in feature action his best. Jason King was fourth in the points with 395 points thanks to 6 top tens as three of those were 4th place runs. Scott Peltz was two points behind for fifth, matching his car number, as 8 top tens, with four of those second place finishes secured 393 points. One win and four top tens got Colton Shaw 331 points and sixth in points. Ron Miller raced to 5 top tens with a feature best fourth for 319 points for seventh. Eighth place Robbie Ledger also had 5 top tens and a 4th place best finish and chalked up 296 points. Mark Smith collected 271 points by finishing with 3 top tens and a season best 6th place for ninth in the standings. Richard Grogg rounds out the top ten with 262 points with 5 top tens with a 5th feature finish.
Kyle Moore also dominated the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks as he totaled up 804 points on 8 wins out of his 12 top tens plus 12 heat wins to receive his second championship trophy of the season. For the second year in a row, Chase Alexander was the runner up in the points as his three wins in ten of his 10’s netted him 682 points. Finishing in third, just 5 points behind Alaxander, Don Rutt posted 677 points thanks to 11 top tens that included two wins. Making it into the top ten for the 5th season in a row, Brandon Craver, the 2012 track champ, scored 623 markers on the strength of 12 top tens and a pair of third place feature runs for fourth. Fifth place was claimed by Jimmy Humphrey who totales 620 points as he finished with 10 top tens and a season best third on the track. Tyler Wiles had nine top tens with three fourth place runs as best feature finishes to collect 571 points and sixth in the standings. Scoring 520 points, Paul McVicker was 7th in the points with six top tens and a feature best 6th. Curt Zimmerman made his third straight top ten by taking 8th with 508 points with 7 top tens and two 7th’s in feature action highlighting his season. In only 10 of the 16 races run, Paul Holmes visited victory circle twice and had 7 top tens to finish ninth with 440 points. Took Wiles also only competed in 10 races and 10th with 411 points as he recorded 6 top tens and finished second three times in the features.
Winning 7 features out of his 11 top tens, Jordan James posted his second JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stock track championship (2018) and his 4th top ten points finish in a row. Adding in his 7 heat wins, James racked up 744 points for the crown. Johnny Bruce Sr. made his second top ten finish in two years as he finished with 694 points for second with 12 top tens and the opening night feature win. Ryan Carder also made the top ten for the second season in a row with 636 points netting him third, Carder also had a win and 12 top tens. Kyle Petit also had 12 top tens and two second place feature finishes to score 627 points. Mitch Reichard took fifth with 623 points as he had 11 top tens with feature bests third three times. Two time track champ Doug Hensel finished 6th with 8 top tens and a feature win for 620 points and his 9th straight top ten in points. David Keagy collected 578 points for 7th as he had 8 top tens and two fifth place feature runs. Coming in 8th was Dustin Bedlion as his 10 top tens with a best finish of 3rd netted him 575 points. Scoring 9 top tens with a second place feature finish, Stephen Crowe scored 520 markers for ninth. Jolene Voshel rallied in the last few weeks to secure tenth place and her third top ten in a row as she had 6 top tens with a third place feature finish for 478 points.
Henry Malcuit won two of the four King of the County Sprint Series to beat out Dean Jacobs by two points as Nick Patterson finished third.
Kyle Moore swept the Shortstop Super Stock Summer Series for the title, Took Wiles and Tyler Wiles ended up second and third.
Also picking up the Contingency Connection ‘Racer’s Awards prizes were Curt Zimmerman, Wes Morrison, Scott Peltz, Mitch Reichard, Paul Holmes, Ron Miller, Mark Gardiner, Jason Dolick, Jordan James (2), Chris Myers, Jerry Aber, Chase Alexander, Zach Ames, Johnny Bruce Sr., Jolene Voshel, Kyle Moore (2), Broc Martin, Mitch Caskey, Doug Hensel (2), and Dean Jacobs.
